Verizon Communications announced their new Software Defined Networking (SDN) strategy. But a closer review of the details releases very little information on the strategy. What is clear is that they are working on an SDN strategy.

The main announcement may be that they have selected their key SDN partners: Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Juniper and Nokia.

Everyone is wants to develop an SDN strategy, or at least to be seen to be developing an SDN strategy. See http://www.truepulse.com/nfv-network-function-virtualization/ for more on this. But it still may be a while before we see tangible results.
