Communications infrastructure solutions provider Zayo will be expanding their dark fibre infrastructure in Montreal, Quebec.   A global cloud provider has selected Zayo for a high-capacity dark fibre ring in the Montreal metro area. Zayo will extend its existing dense network in Montreal, building a 60-km ring for the anchor tenant along the South Shore, the city’s growing technology and data center hub.

“This project enables us to further expand our Canadian footprint and deliver the high-performance communications infrastructure that this long-standing customer merits,” said Jack Waters, CTO and president of Fiber Solutions at Zayo. “We expect to capture the benefits of scale leveraging our dense Montreal footprint and these new success-based routes.”

The name of the global cloud provider was not revealed.

Zayo’s Canadian fibre capacity came with their acquisition of Allstream’s assets.  These same assets were also owned in the past by AT&T Canada, Unitel and CNCP Telecommunications previously.
