Verizon Communications Inc.

The Communication Workers of America have announced a strike deadline of tomorrow at telecommunications provider Verizon Communications Inc.  Nearly 40,000 workers could be walking off at 6am.

“We’re standing up for working families and standing up to Verizon’s corporate greed,” said CWA District 1 Vice President Dennis Trainor. “If a hugely profitable corporation like Verizon can destroy the good family-supporting jobs of highly skilled workers, then no worker in America will be safe from this corporate race to the bottom.”

Verizon for their part, are calmly confident that there will be no major disruption to services.  They didn’t even both to issue a press release concerning the strike at their web site.

Barring a last minute settlement, tomorrow may be interesting for Verizon customers…
