During this horrendous COVID-19 pandemic, lives around the world are being affected. Hundreds of thousands have been infected, thousands have lost their lives.
To combat the disease, entire economies have been shut down. In Ontario, non-essential businesses (telecommunications is considered essential) have been shut down. Millions of people have lost their jobs. Many of those, particularly gig economy workers, do not have the usual societal back-ups.
The need at many food banks is always high. With all the additional unemployed, that number has skyrocketed. In light of the need, I made a donation to our local Richmond Hill Food Bank https://richmondhillcommunityfoodbank.ca/ earlier this week. If you have the ability, I urge you to support your own local food bank, or another particularly effected charity.
