NTK553LA, HECI code WOWUA7B, is a Ciena 6500 WSS, Wavelength Selective Switch, FLEX C-band w/OPM (optical performance monitoring) 9×1 circuit pack (double slot-wide variant).  You may see it referred to as the NTK553LAE5.  Alternately, it may be called the Nortel OME 6500 NTK553LA.

NTK553MA, HECI code WOCUA15, is a Ciena 6500 WSS, Wavelength Selective Switch, FLEX C-band w/OPM (optical performance monitoring) 20×1 circuit pack.  You may see it referred to as the NTK553MAE5.  Alternately, it may be called the Nortel OME 6500 NTK553MA.

The 6500 platform provides a single integrated shelf which is able to support Layer 1 and Layer 2 service interfaces (SONET/SDH, Ethernet, Fiber-Channel, etc.) and photonic layer (Layer 0) functionality (including ROADM and wavelength services). Consolidation of hardware and software generates savings for providers as well as lower operational expenditures.  The 6500 is an optical add-drop multiplexer (OADM)-centric platform that is WSS-based for per wavelength access and branching.

In addition to the NTK553LA and NTK553MA, TruePulse is interested in other Ciena 6500 modules.  We are interested in modules from other Ciena platforms, such as the Optera Connect DX, the CoreDirector, the CoreStream and the CNX-5.
